Fall/Winter/Spring – Mon-Fri 4:30 – 6:30 pm, Sat 7:00 – 10:00 am
Detroit Boat Club Crew – Junior Racing Team
The Junior Racing Team is a high‑performance competitive rowing team for high school athletes. Participants train six days a week, developing the strength, discipline, and skill required to compete at local, regional, and national regattas.
This demanding but rewarding program is for athletes who want to push themselves, race at championship levels, and pursue excellence on and off the water.
DBCC athletes have won numerous national championships, gone on to row at top collegiate programs, and represented the United States National Team – continuing a tradition of excellence that strengthens our team year after year.
Team Composition
- High school athletes from schools across metro detroit
- Rowers will train and compete in both sweep and sculling
- Junior men’s and junior women’s squads
- Experienced rowers and novice
Training Expectations
Junior Racing athletes train six days per week, focusing on:
- Advanced rowing technique
- Strength, mobility, and endurance
- Race preparation and strategy
- Team culture, leadership, and accountability
Competition Determinations
Placement for regatta line-ups is determined by the coaching staff based on several factors:
- Commitment to training expectations
- On the water technical proficiency
- Improved fitness and erg performance
- Coachability and teamwork
