In April, Friends of Detroit Rowing Board of Directors engaged General Steel to prepare the Engineering Design Drawings for the foundation for our building for boat storage and repair.
Phase I
FODR is seeking $900,000 for Phase I of Share an Oar…Share the Shore.
$750,000 to construct – in 2024 – our building for storage and repair, including site preparation and installing the foundation.
$150,000 for our marketing and coaches to serve more people of all ages and abilities and our Detroit community partners.
Give now! Go to our website and join us. Contributors have given half of the $750,000 needed to construct our building. Our gifts for Phase I include a grant from the Community Foundation of Southeast Michigan to serve Detroit youth.
FODR Investments
- Since our lease inception with the Department of Natural Resources for the Belle Isle Boathouse and grounds and docks, we have invested $1,100,000 in building repairs and improvements. All from monies earned through FODR renting the Boathouse for events.
- We run on an annual operating budget of $120,000 funded by participation fees. Other than paid, part-time coaches, volunteers drive FODR’s progress.
Join the volunteers driving our competitive racing, and recreational activities for people of all ages and abilities – from beginner Learn to Row classes, to Veterans and adaptive rowing programs.
