DBCC’s Nemeh Leads Midwest to Victory at Youth Regional Challenge

Sarasota, Fla – Detroit Boat Club Crew varsity coxswain and Grosse Pointe South High School team captain, Kaitlin Nemeh, was selected to compete at the Youth Regional Challenge, September 23 and 24 during the 2017 World Rowing Championships in Sarasota-Bradenton, Florida. The Challenge featured the top Under-19 rowers from across the six USRowing regions racing in eights and quadruple sculls. She was one of two coxswains chosen by USRowing’s Under-19 National Team Program to represent the Midwest region in the men’s eight.

Nemeh’s eight got off to a great start on Saturday by winning their heat with an eight-second, open water lead and qualified for the A final on Sunday. She then coxed her crew to a first place finish with an impressive three second lead over the other crews, earning them the title of the fastest junior crew in the nation and bragging rights for the Midwest region.

Kaitlin, a senior, is currently training with the DBCC and has committed to row at the University of Michigan in the fall of 2018.
