DETROIT – 16 Veterans experienced an afternoon of racing at the John D. Dingell VA Medical Center. Competitors, who had been participating in Learn to Row sessions throughout the year, raced through a round of heats to qualify for a four person, 500 meter final. Winners were awarded Freedom Rows t-shirts, with all participants earning the coveted Freedom Rows pin.
The event was organized by the Detroit Boat Club Crew’s Dennis Sitek, Allan Baur, and Roman Lesnau, together with invaluable support from the VA staff and the Fitness Center’s Kirk Howard. Congratulations to all for the strong effort, healthy competition, outstanding camaraderie, and great fun! We’re all looking forward to the next event!
