
Detroit – The DBCC kicked off their summer season when they traveled to Boathouse Row for the Independence Day Regatta, July 2-4, in Philadelphia. There, they earned five medals including Henry Skupien taking silver in the Men’s U17 Ix, and the junior women taking gold in the Women’s U17 4+.

The DBCC then participated in the Summer Sprint Series at the Michigan Club Invitational on Jul 31 in Ann Arbor and later at the Midwest Summer Sprints Championship on August 7-8 in Nashport, OH. Through the series, the DBCC accumulated gold medals in several events including the men’s masters 8+, Stephen Malbouef in the men’s open 1x, masters women’s 2-, and the women’s novice 4+.
But it was at the USRowing Masters National Championships, August 12-15 in Oak Ridge, TN where the Detroit Boat Club Crew really outshined the competition. At the regatta, DBCC masters earned seven 1st place finishes including gold medals in the men’s H-K 8+, men’s H-K 4x, men’s H 4-, and the men’s H-K 4+.
